I really appreciate some of the points you brought up in your response. First, I am glad you mentioned the concepts of opportunity and competition as two inherent effects of capitalism in how they may strengthen or destroy relationships between communities. It really encompasses the notion that being granted with opportunities may come at a cost of having to compete with others with similar opportunities as you for limited spots in higher classes of social order. Also, I definitely agree that the creation of industrious-Chinese and lazy-Jamaicans/Hawaiians narratives are due to the model minority myth put forth by the white colonists to divide the lower class and prevent them from unification.
